Three quarter length seated portrait of Robert Boyle in a loose robe and long wig, holding a book on his lap with his left hand, spine up.
Inscribed: “Engraved by W.Holl. THE HONOURABLE ROBERT BOYLE. OB.1691. FROM THE ORIGINAL, IN THE COLLECTION OF THE RIGHT HONBLE. THE EARL OF LIVERPOOL. London, Published May 1, 1829; by Harding & Lepard, Pall Mall East.” From Portraits of illustrious personages of Great Britain engraved from authentic pictures...by Edmund Lodge (London, Harding and Lepard, 1835) volume 10 p.1691.
Robert Boyle was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1663.
