Description
Oval head and shoulders portrait. Decorated scrollwork above, and below a coat of arms, with the bag containing the Great Seal of England and the parliamentary silver mace.
Inscribed: “R.White sculp. Orlandus Bridgeman Miles et Baronettus Custos Magni Sigilli Angliiae...” [cropped]. This print was sold by William Battersby, cited in the missing section of text. Inscribed in pencil lower left “1696”.
Sir Orlando Bridgeman was not a Fellow of the Royal Society. He served as Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer.
