    Inscribed: Sir Joshua Reyneolds pinxt. F.Bartolozzi Sculpt. CHARLES BURNEY MUS: DOCT: OXON. F.R.S. Publish’d as the Act directs April 1st 1784.” In pencil lower left “1773”.

    Charles Burney was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1773.
