Inscribed: “E.Desmaisons. S.Freeman. PROFESSOR DUMAS, M.D., F.R.S. MEMBRE DE L’INSITUT, PROFESSEUR A L’ECOLE DES ARTES ET MANUFACTURES &c. WILLIAM MACKENZIE, GLASGOW, EDINBURGH, LONDON & NEW-YORK.” With a facsimile signature.
Jean Baptiste Andre Dumas was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1840.
