Half length in dark robes, right hand holding a neck chain at chest level.
Inscribed: “Painted by Margaret Carpenter. Engraved by Thomas Hodgetts. JOHN GAGE, ESQRE. F.R.S. & F.S.A. Published by W.Carpenter, Old Bond Street. April 26. 1824.”
John Gage was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1824. He took the name Rokewode in 1838.
