Oval half length portrait of Gibbs with an open coat and open shirt collar, his right hand held loosely before his midriff. Behind, an architectural background.
Inscribed: “A Bannerman sculp. JAMES GIBBS.-“ In pencil lower left “1729” and lower right “1/-”.
James Gibbs was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1729.
