Inscribed: “Engraved by Thomson, from a Painting by Howard. Davies Gilbert, Esq. M.P. President of the Royal Society. London. Fisher Son & Co.. July 1, 1828.” With a facsimile signature
Davies Gilbert was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1791. He served as President of the Royal Society 1827-1830.
