Description
Three-quarter length portrait of Blackett, seated in a green leather round-backed chair with scrolled wooden armrests within a half-panelled room. Blackett is in half-profile, face and body turned to the viewer’s left. He wears a blue suit, white shirt and lighter blue tie. A wristwatch is shown on his left hand, with both hands folded on his crossed legs. A white handkerchief and pen are worn at the breast pocket.
Patrick Blackett was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1933, he served as its President from 1965 to 1970.
