    Half length seated portrait of Sherrington, shown with spectacles and a moustache, turning white. Sherrington is dressed in a dark suit, white shirt and red-brown, with a suggestion of pinstripe trousers. His left hand holds the armrest of a round backed wooden chair.

    Charles Scott Sherrington was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1893, he served as its President from 1920 to 1925.
