Sir Everard Home was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1787.

Object history

Presented by Sir Everard Home (1798-1853) 2nd Baronet and son of the sitter.

The donation is recorded in a supplementary listing of presents received by the Society during 1832-1833: “Portrait of the late Sir Everard Home, Bart., V.P.R.S. [Donor] Capt. Sir E.Home.” ["Presents received by the Royal Society with the names of donors...from 15th November 1832 to 20th June 1833”, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society vol.128 1838, supplement, p14].
