Description
Three-quarter length portrait of Fred Kavli, seated in a wooden armchair with cream upholstery. Behind is a small marble-topped table upon which stands a tiffany lamp. On the wall behind, a framed landscape of fishermen on a shoreline. Kavli is posed with legs crossed and hands clasped. He wears a dark grey-blue suit, light blue shirt and square-patterned red white and blue tie.

The painting was commissioned by the Royal Society in July 2009, to be installed at the Kavli Royal Society International Centre at Chicheley Hall, Buckinghamshire. It was unveiled at a dedication ceremony at the Centre on 13-14 September 2010.
