Head and shoulders portrait of Louis Pasteur.
With a facsimile signature of Louis Pasteur. The image is signed lower right: “Nadar” and is inscribed: “Offert par M. Deschiens.”
Apparently produced in support of the Pasteur Centenary Celebrations, 24 May-1 June 1923 held in Paris and Strasburg and collected, with other ephemera, by Sir Charles Scott Sherrington FRS (1857-1952). Incorporated, with other tracts in Sherrington’s volume Items touching the Royal Society.

Louis Pasteur was elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Society in 1869.
