Plate 14 figure 3 from the paper “Sketches and descriptions of three simple instruments for drawing architecture and machinery in perspective”, by James Peacock, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.75 (1785), pp.366-371.
Instrument designed to allow the user to draw on a table-top. Two boards are employed, one in a vertical position for viewing the original object, with a second flat, in a more natural drawing position.
