Description
Marine zoological study of the common octopus (Octopus vulgaris). The cephalopod is presented as a single study, as in life.
Plate 11 in the section “G.Poulpe” from the book Histoire naturelle generale et particuliere des cephalopodes acetabuliferes vivants et fossiles.., by André Étienne d'Audebert de Férussac (1786-1836) and Alcide Charles Victor Marie Dessalines d'Orbigny (1802-1857) (Paris, 1848). Various inscriptions, including below: “Verany de Nice, delin. L de Benard Blanchard et lapid. delin. O.Vulgaria, Lam. Hors de l’eau et marchant sur la plage.”
