    Description
    Marine zoological study of the Common cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis). The cephalopod is presented with the two long tentacles extended, therefore a dead specimen. With supporting detail drawings A-F.

    Plate 1 in the section “Seiche (Sepia)” from the book Histoire naturelle generale et particuliere des cephalopodes acetabuliferes vivants et fossiles.., by André Étienne d'Audebert de Férussac (1786-1836) and Alcide Charles Victor Marie Dessalines d'Orbigny (1802-1857) (Paris, 1848). Various inscriptions, including below: “Werner. Atelier de Guerin. Imp.Lith. de Bove dirigee par Noel aini et Cie. S.Officinalia, Linne.”
