    Head and shoulders portrait of John Macalister Dodds, looking directly to camera, head turned slightly to the left as viewed.

    Printed below the image: “HILLS & SAUNDERS, CAMBRIDGE & OXFORD ALSO AT RUGBY, ETON, HARROW & LONDON.” Information repeated verso with a printed Royal coat-of-arms “BY APPOINTMENT TO HER MAJESTY.” A pencil inscription states: “John M. Dodds probably in 1878 or 1879.”

    John Macalister Dodds was not a Fellow of the Royal Society. He was a Fellow and Assistant Tutor of St Peter's College, Cambridge and an assistant to the Professor of Mathematics in Glasgow University, 1882-1885. He contributed to the Royal Society-published paper “Experiments in the value of the Ohm parts 1 and 2” with Richard Glazebrook (1882).
