The work was commissioned by the Treasurer and unveiled on 30 November 2010 at the Royal Society’s headquarters in Carlton House Terrace, London.
Bryan Organ also presented the Society with two preparatory drawings: one for the main portrait and a second study of Martin Rees’s hands making characteristic gestures.
